Here are some questions that you may already be thinking but don’t have the answers to just yet.
What does this mean for me if you have booked flights with Monarch?
If you are in the UK and due to travel out, the flights are not operating and you are advised not to go to the airport.
If you are abroad and due to fly back to the UK on or before October 15th then the CAA is arranging for passengers to return on new flights, free of charge. You should check the CAA guidance page for information https://monarch.caa.co.uk/customers/i-am-currently-abroad/.
Can I get a refund for my cancelled flights?
If you booked directly with Monarch Airlines then it is unlikely that the airline will be able to refund you. we advise that consumers contact their travel insurers to see if their policy covers this eventuality. In addition, if the flights were purchased using a credit or debit card or Paypal, passengers may be able to seek assistance from their card issuer and/or Paypal.
If you were issued with an ATOL certificate you may be able to apply for a refund from the CAA. A claim form will be made available and passengers are advised to only make a claim once they have been advised to do so. You can find out if you are ATOL protected at the following link https://monarch.caa.co.uk/customers/how-do-i-know-if-i-am-atol-protected/.
Where can I go for further help?
The CAA has created a dedicated site to help ad advise customers of companies in the monarch Group. Further information can be found here https://monarch.caa.co.uk/
