Frequently Asked Questions

Every day the UK ECC receives a number of questions and enquires from consumers concerning their cross border purchases. When we identify a pattern, the same questions being asked of us, we will aim to create a frequently asked question so you will be able to find the answer quicker.

Look at the section of questions below and click on the question to see our advice and information, if you cannot see what you are looking for please do not hesitate in contacting us.

Please note:

With the recent disruptions caused by the volcanic ash from eruption of Eyjafjallajokul in Iceland, we have received a huge increase in the number of enquires about consumers rights against airlines. As such the European Commission has provided a consumer complaints guide, this can be found on our Volcanic Ash: What are your rights section of the website.
